Deborah Honeycutt has run for Congress several times in the state of Georgia. She has tried to get elected to the United States Congress by bringing her experience as a health care professional to the debate. Ms. Honeycutt has been able to raise a significant amount of money as a candidate during her last run for Congress in particular. This is quite impressive due to the fact that her campaign was largely ignored by the NRCC and its organization head Pete Sessions of Texas. Deborah Honeycutt was able to overcome this adversity and run three very competitive races for Congress.
Deborah Honeycutt has been running in a very tough Congressional District for a Republican to run in. This is especially true when you are talking a district where many of the African voters in the thirteenth congressional district automatically vote for the Democratic candidate, regardless of the stances that the candidates happen to take on the issues. Incumbent David Scott has certainly taken advantage of the this reflexive nature of voters to cast their ballots for Democrats. The Thirteenth Congressional District voters did not give Deborah Honeycutt the GOP nomination in the Thirteenth Congressional District of Georgia.
She lost the nomination to a gentlemen by the name of Mike Crane. Mike Crane was defeated by David Scott in the general election. Honeycutt has quite a resume and in fact has been appointed to the American Academy of Family Physicians. Some people questioned her fundraising tactics on an ethical basis because of her ties to a direct mail company, but no wrongdoing was ever found.
